'I shall dance all my life ...'
Josephine Baker
Last SIS Spijkers & Spijkers fashion show,
the sister duo were inspired by the young Bardot.
This year their designing hearts set on the excentric
Joséphine Baker,
who brought non-western art to a larger public in the mid 1920s.
When you think Joséphine, you associate her immediately with her famous banana skirt and her beloved cheetah Chiquita, adorned with a diamond collar.
The show captured the whimsical character of Joséphine, yet stayed true to S&S graphic detailing and particular use of color. I saw colorful prints, dancing girls in banana skirts prints, graphic tees, cheetah prints and metallic details. All wrapped in a sophisticated mix and match silhouette common for SIS.
